Uniform and Isotropic Random Patterns for Digital Image Correlation

Synthesis of greyscale patterns via Fourier transforms allows precise control of the spatial frequencies contained in the pattern. This work presents recent progress in simultaneously controlling both the spatial frequencies contained in a pattern and the local range of greyscale levels and greyscale gradients, to the extent these constraints are compatible. The method thereby enables to generate patterns that provide unprecedented levels of uniformly high sensitivity and robustness to image-based full-field displacement measurements like digital image correlation.
